"He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to
such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
- Mark 10:14-15 (NIV)
Purpose
It is our purpose to provide an environment in which young children can freely and happily develop spiritually,
socially, physically and mentally. Young children learn through play, so our program is play-oriented. The curriculum
is carefully planned to give children prior knowledge which is important in developing good readers. The first experience
with school should give the child a positive attitude toward the idea of school. The staff is here to cooperate with the
parents in their job of child rearing and to supplement the child's home life by enriching his/her experience.
Cross of Christ Christian Preschool welcomes and serves children 3-5 years old without regard to their race, color, national origin or creed. (Children must be 3 or 4 years old by December 1st.) All student records will be kept confidential. It is our desire to have staff and children of a variety of backgrounds that we might enrich one another's lives.
Goals
- To help build each child's self esteem and to encourage that each child is special.
- To provide opportunities for Christian learning of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through Bible lessons and an informal living - learning environment.
- To provide experiences and activities which fulfill the child's basic individual needs (spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and mental).
- To provide guidance as the child becomes less self-centered and starts taking part in small group and large group activities.
- To provide interests and experiences which will broaden the child's aptitude for future school work.
Tuition
Cross of Christ Christian Preschool operates as a self-supporting, educational non-profit agency of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, South Lyon, Michigan.
The yearly cost of tuition is divided equally into nine monthly payments, September through May.
Parent Involvement
Three teacher aides help out in each 4 year and 3 year old class. Parents are not required to work in the classroom, but may be asked to volunteer on special party or cooking days.
Parents are always welcome. It is hoped that during the year all parents may be able to plan time at the preschool to see how their child spends the day.
